We stopped in for lunch on a Monday.

We were greeted warmly by Nicole, one of the owners. She asked if we had any questions and took our order. She also introduced her husband, who is the chef.

It is equal parts store and restaurant. They feature grocery items that are popular in Jamaica and other Caribbean islands. It is a very casual place, great for a quick stop or to take home a hot meal.

The curried goat was great. The chicken was great as well. The portions were quite generous for a lunch portion. We had enough to take home after we finished.

Fat Cheft is one of the best restaurants in Central Florida in Clermont. Not salty or spicy but ingredients are well but together. My favorite dish is the current chicken and white rice. I drove 38 minutes from Apopka to Clermont just to have a taste of the Jamaica authentic meal

I’m from london and Jamaican food was always a go to for me this is the first place I have found in this county that actually tastes as it should could not recommend it more if you want a meal that’s going to make you feel good after eating it the brown chicken stew tastes just like my friends grandma used to make and the plantains are perfectly ripe and fried every time , these guys know what they are doing with food and you won’t be hungry after real food made by real people !

Everything about this place hits at a 10. Fantastic food, amazing owners, and a great selection of hard to find meats & drinks in their store.

The Jamaican patties make for a quick and easy lunch we will definitely be back for those bad boys!

Also who knew cabbage could be so flavorful? And the plantains are the perfect bite of sweet to cool the palate!

Jerked chicken had a good kick to it! Got a dinner for me and a friend and we couldn’t finish it. Everything tasted authentic and service was fast and friendly.

Went for the first time after driving past it many times. I was blown away. Best Jamaican food I’ve had in a long time. Jerked chicken had a good kick to it. Cabbage and veggies tasted fresh. Rice and peas were not dry like at some other places. The plantains were tasty, too. I got some beef patties to go will try those tomorrow. Will definitely be back! An extensive menu I’ll have to explore. Thank you!

BEST Jamaican food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely delicious and authentic. The oxtail is my favorite, especially paired with their pumpkin rice. The jerk chicken has just enough spice and is seasoned perfectly. Totally obsessed with this place. Can’t get enough. And Nicole is just the sweetest!!

The beef patties are great they got that homemade taste. They also have curry and jek chicken patties. They serve a lot with the plates, just be sure to ask for extra gravy though.

Wow this food is absolutely delicious! The saltfish fritters are probably the best I ever had and that escoveitch mayo that comes with it??? Brilliant! Unlike anything I've ever tasted. I'd literally buy a whole bottle of it. The yard man alfredo was delicious, the only thing I didn't expect was the cheese but that's a personal thing I'm just not a big fan and if it was listed in the description when I ordered I would have asked them to leave it out. Other than that everything worked so well together, coconut milk is such a nice touch. The shrimps were huge pieces and a good amount too, very good value for the price! I will 100% be trying more items

Taste home cooked, reasonably priced, great service! We tried the roasted fish, jerk chicken, and beef pattie so far. Also sampled the rum cake. All were delicious!

First time trying this spot, the young lady at the cash register was nice and friendly. We ordered a large curry goat with veggie mix white rice and small brown stew chicken with rice and peas. The large curry goat ended up having the wrong rice, and small amount of curry goat and rice for a large plate. The brown stew chicken plate was on point. What kind of save the night is the food had that good authentic Jamaican flavor and grapenut ice cream which was perfect. I will try them again to see if the curry goat dish was just a mistake. Also I will have to try them again before I make any decision giving recommendations to family and friends

This is some of the best Caribbean food in the area! The host and chef are some of the best people you want to meet! The store and restaurant are clean and the Caribbean music makes everything so unique and authentic!

Very good curried goat! The dish only had a few bones which is just fine. I also tried the bird fried wings. They tasted pretty unique. To me it had a hint of Worcestershire sauce. They were also big and fairly priced. They tasted great! I would just ask for a little extra curry to add to the rice but I will come back here for sure.

Fun place for authentic Jamaican food

Have spent a lot of time in non touristy areas of Jamaica. This is the real deal. Prices are great, i had the jerk chicken meal. Also, check out their frozen fish. They have red snapper for an unbelievable price.

This is a privilege to have oxtails this good, please come by and try it so we don’t lose a gem like this in Clermont/Minneola, we don’t have too many good west Caribbean restaurants on this side of town so make sure to stop by. Portions are very generous and pricing is very fair. I would also recommend the bird pepper wings and jerk chicken. All dinner plates come with rice and cabbage(super tasty). I btw am not affiliated with the restaurant but as a local foodie, you won’t be disappointed.

I ordered the brown stew chicken, which came with rice and peas (beans), steamed cabbage, and sweet plantains. I drove home with the food and it was torture because it smelled so, so good. I got the large, and the portion size is good; enough for me to eat twice. I've eaten at a lot of the local Jamaican restaurants in Orlando and Winter Garden, and the stew chicken here is the best I've ever had. I will definitely be back to order the stew again and to try some of the other dishes.

I had the curry chicken and it was a beautifully spiced curry with the chicken so moist. It was bony as I always expect at authentic Jamaican, but don’t let that scare you, the meat is truly tender and flavorful. The plate came with chicken on a bed of rice and beans, three delicious fried plantains and a side of veggies—in this case stewed cabbage. Also tried the Jerk chicken my husband ordered and it had enough heat to clear my sinuses and was charred perfectly. I’d go back any time passing through.

Jamaican Gem ???????????? A great place for Jamaican food! I think it opened about a year ago; far from fancy, just a little hidden gem with outstanding food, nice casual atmosphere, reasonable prices, and wonderful owners. We sat outside on the back deck, listening to reggae, and kicking back. The food came out very quickly and was piping hot. The barbecued whole snapper was outstanding! My son’s sweet and sticky chicken wings were crispy and cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of sauce. The jerk chicken with cabbage and plantains was delicious as well. Portions are huge. Looking forward to our next visit.

Our bridge group tried it today, oh my goodness!!! Everything was delicious! We had the oxtail, the jerk chicken and the grilled chicken. Everything was so flavorful and fresh! We will definitely go back, great find! The specialty store is great as well, food items that you can’t find in a grocery store. Prices are also great.

Please don't judge this place based on the exterior. It's located inside of a small cornerstore off of HWY 27 behind Racetrac. I ordered 4 items because I wanted to taste different dishes for an accurate review. The saltfish fritters, curry goat, curry chicken and bird pepper wings. All of the dishes are authentic and loaded with flavor. Don't be afraid of a little heat to spice up your day. The curry goat was very tender and soft, the curry chicken was deliciously prepared in a savory curry gravy, the wings were HOT and damn good and lastly, the saltfish fritters complimented the other dishes well. Even the cabbage & carrots and fried plantains were delicious!! On my next visit I'll try the Red Stew Peas!! The owner is a delight. Very passionate about food. Good food is desperately needed in this area. All the best to FAT CHEF in Minneola, FL!
